Crowdsourcing The Twitter Population

November 4, 2009 by Stephen S Alison

Crowdsourcing The Twitter PopulationCrowdsourcing The Twitter Population – We already had the word Crowdsourcing which has been described as “the act of taking a job traditionally performed by a designated agent (usually an employee) and outsourcing it to an undefined, generally large group of people in the form of an open call.”

Crowdsourcing The Twitter Population – Now an Irish social media consulting company Simplyzesty has added a new term to the English language and social networking terminology: Crowdsourcing Populations.

They started creating lists of Twitter users in entire countries by launching Twitter lists for the UK and Ireland. They call it “crowdsourcing populations”.

Crowd Sourcing The American Twitter Population – A few hours ago they launched a USA version with a script built to make the listings automatic. The plan is to do is to cover the USA in 72 hours…”We want to make a series of lists for every single county in America by using crowd sourcing to harness the power of Twitter and create an incredible free resource for people to use.”

Twitter users can get listed by tweeting “I want to get listed #TwitterCalifonia [or another state]” and Simplyzesty will collect all the tweets and add them to the lists for each State. In the UK Twitter users can tweet #TwitterEssex, replacing the county name with the county you live in.
